Registered Dental Hygienist and Practice Manager
Shelly is a New York transplant, but has lived in Georgia for 35 years. After receiving a BA degree in Psychology from SUNY in Oneonta, NY, Shelly continued her education at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. There, she earned two degrees: a BS in Dental Hygiene and her MRS., as she fell in love and married a handsome dental student.Shelly has raised two wonderful children and is proud to refer to them as law-abiding citizens. While nurturing these two children to adults, she squeezed in the opportunity to work as a temporary hygienist in numerous offices in the Atlanta area, which also gave her the opportunity to serve as the family chauffeur. Her son now works in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Census Bureau while her daughter is pursuing an MFA in Theater Production at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.
Shelly brings a wealth of ideas from her diverse office experiences that benefit both our staff and our patients. In 2007, she facilitated a 4-day cruise to the Caribbean-a wonderful team-building experience. She also assists Dr. Cohen in the treatment rooms and with coordinating the hygiene schedule. Shelly is a great asset to our team because she excels at building relationships with our patients and dedicating herself to their well-being. She offers activity sheets for children to do when they are waiting in the reception room. She can also often be found greeting patients at the front desk, so if you happen to be in the neighborhood, please stop by and say hello! In her spare time, Shelly enjoys spending time with her family and friends, volunteering in the community, and reading (especially on rainy days)!
